Discover 5 Unique Sauna Experiences to add to your Wellness Wishlist

With a wave of new saunas opening across the country, Ireland is quickly becoming a haven for sauna lovers. With over 170 saunas now featured on the @irishseasaunas Google Map, there’s no shortage of options.

If you’re looking for something a bit more unique—think wood-fired saunas, coffee trucks, or even yoga and sauna combos—check out the Sauna Finder Directory, where you can filter your search by features and locations.

Here are five of my current favourites that offer more than just heat—they’re immersive, nature-connected wellness experiences.

    1. Acumeen Farm, Co. Kerry

Tucked away on a regenerative agriculture farm, Acumeen Farm Sauna is surrounded by breathtaking mountain views. I discovered it while visiting Fenit Lighthouse Sauna near Tralee, and it came highly recommended.

You can choose between social or private sessions:

    • Social Sauna: €15 for 50 minutes
    • Private Sauna: €100 for 50 minutes

There’s a cold plunge and cold shower for contrast therapy, and while there are changing rooms, note that there are no toilet facilities on-site. Don’t leave without picking up a dozen pasture-raised eggs—they’re divine.

    2. Tigh N Alluis, Co Dublin

This is one of the most atmospheric sauna experiences I’ve had this year. At Tigh N’Alluis, you can choose between a Mongolian yurt or a panoramic barrel sauna with stunning views over the Dublin and Wicklow Mountains.

I opted for the yurt, led by co-founder Peter. It’s darker and more enclosed, ideal for a deeply meditative experience. For the cold plunge, you can dip in a freshwater pond or one of two plunge pools.

    Pricing:

    • Barrel Sauna: €22/hour (shared, 8 people max)
    • Yurt Sauna: €25/hour (shared)

They host events like Ladies’ Full Moon Sauna, Men’s Sauna & Hike, and Sauna as Gaeilge. It’s a 10-minute uphill walk from the Glencullen Adventure Centre car park, so plan accordingly.

    Facilities include:

    • Changing rooms
    • Toilets
    • Paid parking (€2)

    3. Mad Yolk Farm, Co Galway

Located on a regenerative farm in Craughwell, Mad Yolk is a handcrafted sauna that blends nature and design beautifully. Built with reclaimed wood using the Shou Sugi Ban technique, it features a living roof, rainwater shower, and outdoor plunge pool.

They offer women-only, men-only, and silent sauna sessions.

    Pricing:

    • Social Sauna: €16 for 55 minutes
    • Private Hire: €90 for 90 minutes (up to 10 people)
    • Monthly Memberships also available

You can also shop for pasture-raised eggs, milk, sourdough, and seasonal chemical-free veggies while you’re there.

    • Changing rooms
    • Free parking

    4. Treehouse Sauna, Co. Kildare

I was genuinely impressed with the Treehouse Sauna during a recent visit to Naas. Located on the lush grounds of Liffeyvale Nurseries, it’s a luxury sauna experience tucked among the trees beside the River Liffey.

There are two large saunas with scenic views, plus:

    • Cold plunges and rain showers
    • A wood-fired riverside jacuzzi under the trees—pure magic

    Pricing:

    • Social Sauna: €15 for 50 minutes
    • Silent Sauna sessions also available

    Facilities:

    • Changing rooms
    • Toilets
    • Free parking

    5. Driftwood, Co Galway

While in Spiddal for a family wedding last summer, I finally got to visit the award-winning Driftwood Sauna—and it lived up to the hype. Recently named Best Waterside Sauna in the UK & Ireland (2024) by the British Sauna Society, this spot offers stunning views across to the Aran Islands.

    They offer:

    • Social Sauna: €17 for 50 minutes (€15 off-peak)
    • Baltic-style Sauna Rituals: 90-minute sessions led by trained sauna masters
    • 6-Week Contrast Club

    Facilities:

    • Cold plunge with panoramic views
